The PTA is proud to present the nominees for the 24-25 and 24-26 school years
We currently only really use Facebook. This chair would update the Facebook account with information for upcoming PTA/School Events. If a message comes from the school, it should be posted to the Facebook page. Each committee chair will have access to update the facebook page and set future posts. This chair is really a double check to make sure info is out there. It would be great if this chair could join the 3 Grade Level groups to post Grade level specific reminders. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys social media and is familiar with how it works. It would also be great if our reach could grow to Instagram, X, and even tik tok.
The Chair for this committee will run the Eagle Store and CMS Winter Market. For the Eagle store you will need to work with the school to determine the dates for the event. This year we did the last school Friday of the month (We do not run the store in Jan and Feb, as it conflicts with the musical stage production) We budget $450 per event. You would need to determine what you want to purchase and clear with the school, then purchase and get reimbursed. This year we made a "menu" and emailed out to teachers to share with students before the event. You would organize the volunteers and oversee the events. For the CMS Market, you ask for donations of lightly used/new items. Coordinate the dates after school for the event (typically 2 events on the day that activity buses run), organize volunteers to categorize and "price" items, and then run the Markets on the event dates.
The chair for the gym uniform committee, organizes the uniform sale at the start of the school year, and inventories the remaining uniforms in May, and places the order for the following year. The main work for this chair position is August - September. You will work with the website chair to open up the pre-sale in August and promote. You will bag and tag the presales for pickup at Peek at your Seat/Back to school night. You will organize volunteers to help man the Gym Uniform sales tables at peek at your seat/back to school night. After this date, gym uniforms are sold by the PE teachers. Your job is done. - until May. When you reach out the gym teachers to arrange a day to inventory what is left. You will then place the order for the uniforms for the following year. (We pay the vendor directly by check).
The PTA runs the Yearbook Club! You will work with students once a week from October - March to create the yearbook. This chair position requires the fingerprint background check from AACPS. This is a very creative and rewarding experience. You will guide the students to select a theme, work on design, take photos, and learn the basics of yearbook design. YOU do not need any experience to do this role - but the software is a bit difficult. Someone who is a little tech savvy would be best. The yearbook club currently meets on Friday Mornings. You could move to after school on activity bus days if desired.
This position is all about the sale and distribution of the yearbook. Making sure we sell all that we ordered, advertising on our social media/posters in schools/direct emails, and then distributing the yearbook when they arrive.
